While ProTools is widely recognized as an industry standard, keep in mind this is for professional studios with large professional installations. PT 9 is not competitive for home studio use on PC platforms. I specifically purchased a fully qualified Avid PC system (Dell T3500, quadcore 3GHz, 12G Ram) and have performed every recommended optimization and still have incredibly poor performance, system hangs and – especially fun – the fact is this software deletes file headers on .wav files and randomly relocates files. Buyer beware!
